As you get older with more and more responsibilities piling on top of one another, your day-to-day schedule can get rather full and you’ll probably find you have to remove things you love and that are important to you, like hobbies and fitness, from your current lifestyle. Physical exercise classes take up an hour of your time excluding transport and organising equipment to bring, and when it comes to a hectic timetable, it’s just not ideal.
Online fitness classes are becoming more popular because of this, as well as because of Covid-19, and are a great option if you don’t have the time to attend classes in person. At Dance NZ, there are 5 total fitness classes to choose from, all of which are accessible online, as well as in-person if you live in Raglan or Hamilton. Dance NZ classes teach Nia Dance, a holistic dance practice, at varying levels and for a diverse range of individuals, with multiple viewing and attending options.

Nia Dance at Dance NZ
Nia Dance is a dance movement form designed to be accessible for all individuals, and easily adaptable to your specific needs and abilities. All 52 movements that this technique is comprised of are non-impact and practiced barefoot, with all actions originating from a form of either martial arts, healing arts, or dance arts; some popular techniques that Nia Dance movements adopt comes from Tai-Chi moves to Yoga forms.
Nia Dance is a great form of exercise to participate in at home as it requires no equipment and is extremely easy to follow along with. All you need to participate is a device to watch your class on, a stable internet connection, and an open space to move around.
Dance NZ is a Hamilton and Raglan-based Nia Dance group with classes available and specially designed for skilled dancers, beginners, those recovering from injuries or in the ACC recovery program, seniors, and individuals with Parkinson’s. Online classes capture and broadcast in-person sessions live, so you can still feel connected to your peers and teacher.

Accessing Dance NZ Classes Online
All online sessions are held over Zoom, which you can download here. The app is available on your phone, tablet, iPad, and laptop, but it’s highly recommended you use whatever has the biggest screen to optimise your viewing experience. Dance NZ has made all classes available on Zoom as well as in-person, so whether you’re too busy, don’t have the transportation or live in the Hamilton or Raglan area, or just want to participate in the comfort of your own home, you can join in!
A great method we recommend is connecting your device to your TV if you have the right technological equipment. If you own a Chromecast, you can connect any device, like a phone, tablet, or laptop, to your TV using Bluetooth and the same, shared internet connection. If you have an older TV or don’t have Chromecast, you can use an HDMI cord and connect your laptop to your TV, transferring the video feed from your computer screen to your TV’s.
If you’re finding you’re schedule to be way too unpredictable to consider online lessons either, as they do fit in a specific, one-hour time slot like physical classes, you could also consider our Dance NZ purchasable class replays. These replays are recorded footage from classes and uploaded for your viewing pleasure for up to 24 hours! You have the power to watch purchased videos as many times you want and at any point within the 24-hour time frame, with the ability to pause, rewind and fast-forward your video. Ideal for those who can’t commit to a specific time slot!
