What is Nia Dance ?

Ok so now we have you asking what is Nia Dance and how is this different from other dance workouts such as ZUMBA or Martial Arts Well the main difference is the Nia Technique encourages dancers to choose a level of movement that feels good in ” Your Body’s Way”.

It is a choreographed dance to beautiful music with the occasional interlude of freeform. In Nia Dance, the dancers get to creatively adapt and modify the movements, giving the dancer a mindful approach to listening to the needs of the body and choosing to create ease, comfort FUN, and pleasure.

A Nia Technique instructor is merely a guide, offering you simple choreographed movement, with no expectation to follow the moves exactly, it is more about pattern solving for your brain! The Kata sequences or patterns are based on improving the neuromuscular system.

Giving you guided movement that starts o one side of the body, then the other. As dancers progress with this Technique the movement pattern can be blended together. A fantastic way to strengthen your neuroplasticity disguised as dancing fun!
