Staying healthy isn’t necessarily about being in shape or having muscles and extreme strength. When you’re focusing on being healthy, your focus should be centred on the care of your mind, body and soul first, with other health goals coming as a second priority. Focusing on the health of your being before anything else will not only help you achieve your other fitness goals faster but also help improve your overall wellbeing, mood and how you feel mentally and physically.

But it can be a difficult journey to start if you’re not already interested in fitness or healthful activities. However, this blog will be discussing dance exercise class in Hamilton that doesn’t even feel like exercise! These classes will provide fun into your day with a new social group while providing you with numerous health benefits.

The Wonders Nia Dance Has On Your Health

The healthy dance classes in Hamilton that we’re talking about today is the holistic dance style known as Nia Dance. This movement technique has 52 movements and 7 cycles, each action and cycle providing different benefits and stimulating different parts of your body and mind. Some of these cycles involve setting your focus and intent (Cycle 1), harmonising with and recentering your body (Cool Down – Cycle 5), and having fitness down completely on the floor (Floor Play – Cycle 6). The movements of Nia Dance take inspiration from nine different movement arts, including healing arts like yoga, martial arts like tai-chi, and dance arts like jazz

This mixture of cycles and movements are all low-impact and highly adaptable which allows everybody to be able to participate in Nia Dance and take important care of their health. Being accessible to anyone also allows you to participate with a diverse range of people and meet types of individuals you may never have had the right environment of meeting under.

Some commonly reported benefits of Nia Dance include, but are not limited to, improved circulation, weight loss, increased muscle strength and toning, pain relief, higher levels of mobility and flexibility, better sensory awareness, calmer moods, higher productivity, a happier attitude, heightened spiritual connection and improved organ and cognitive function.
