Looking to socialize with new or old friends after lockdown? Have you found that your mental health or emotional wellbeing has been affected by lockdown? This blog will be detailing an amazing social wellbeing dance Hamilton class that is ideal for everyone, no matter your abilities or where you’re located.

Nia Dance For Your Health and Relationships

Nia Dance is a unique, non-impact movement art that consists of 52 total moves. Each move is derived from a martial, healing, and dancing art. This holistic fitness as a whole was composed following the complex design of the human body to improve your physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health and well-being.

The 52 movements that make up Nia Dance are inspired by a variety of specialized disciplines such as Tai Chi, the Alexander Technique, and Yoga. It also incorporates specific teachings and ideas from these various other movement arts. These are taken and then applied to Nia Dance as mindfulness techniques.

Nia Dance is distinct from other forms of fitness or dance. When it comes to mental healing and improving your wellbeing or mood, Nia Dance teaches you the tools and abilities necessary to maintain a positive mindset and energy both within and outside of class.

Compared to regular fitness forms, Nia Dance offers you more than just small bursts of energy as a result of the endorphins released after a workout. As Nia Dance is one of the few movement forms that focus on mental wellbeing as well as physical health, there is a wide range of benefits that come from consistently practicing this technique.

Decreased anxiety or depressive symptoms, weight loss, improved circulation, renewed productive energy, enhanced cardiovascular health, higher self-esteem and confidence, supported posture, a more joyful attitude on life, and increased happiness through making new and maintaining social relationships through Nia Dance are just a few of the numerous benefits.

Social Dance Classes Suited For You

Dance NZ is a Nia Dance company headquartered in the Hamilton and Raglan areas. It’s one of the few Nia Dance organizations in New Zealand. Classes are held in person at various sites around Hamilton and Raglan, but they are also available online through Zoom sessions which occur live to physical classes.

If you’re a busy individual that can’t commit to a specific date and time, don’t stress! There are 24-hour class replays available for purchase on the Dance NZ website. These replays can be viewed as many times as you like within the 24-hour timeframe and can be paused, rewind, or fast-forwarded.

If possible, it’s highly recommended to participate in Nia Dance online or in person so you can maintain meaningful social connections and have the opportunity to make new friends. Whether you’re participating online through Zoom or attending in-person classes, you’ll still be met with a high level of social connection.

Your teacher at Dance NZ, Belinda Goodwin, aims to provide a supportive and enthusiastic social environment that every individual will feel comfortable and welcome in, online or physically. Sometimes celebrations and hangouts are planned outside of classes. This allows everyone to meet and talk to each other in a different setting and have even more fun outside of Nia Dance.

All classes that are open at Dance NZ are listed below the Book Now heading of this blog. They can be read more in-depth by clicking each title’s link.
