Being more social and boosting your happiness can go hand in hand. While you may be trying to find things to do as a senior to make you happier or bring a little extra joy into your life, creating new social ties and being involved in more social events is a strong way to boost your happiness. Happy seniors social dance in Hamilton is what this blog will be discussing, providing you with information on a fantastic dance technique that will offer you amazing health, lifestyle, social, and happiness advantages.

How Nia Dance Can Boost Your Happiness As a Senior

Nia Dance is a low-impact dance practice that promotes a variety of physical, mental, social and spiritual health and happiness advantages in addition to increasing serotonin levels. The dance style combines nine different movement art forms, including tai-chi, the Alexander technique, yoga, and other styles of dance, as well as healing and martial arts

Numerous studies have demonstrated that exercises like Tai Chi, Yoga and other movement arts that inspire Nia Dance have profoundly positive benefits on elders’ health and happiness, and provide the perfect environment for social connection. Because Nia Dance is the combination of these different arts, it provides an overwhelming number of senior social and happiness advantages.

Nia Dance consists of 52 highly-adaptable movements made to work around your body type and abilities. This makes it ideal for everyone, especially elders, to engage in all movements and Nia Dance routines. It’s adaptability means you won’t be forcing motions through your body that feel uncomfortable or unnatural, lowering the danger of injury, exhaustion, or discomfort.

Nia Dance has several benefits for your social levels and happiness as a senior such as an increased positive attitude, calm energy, a supportive teaching environment, a patient instructor, pain alleviation, increased self-esteem, reduced depressive symptoms and anxiety, and restored mobility and flexibility.

Experience Social Nia Dance Classes as a Senior at Dance NZ

Nia Dance is a wonderful way to meet new people if you have the opportunity to participate in the right class for you. Dance NZ is a New Zealand Nia Dance organisation with classes based online through Zoom, and in-person at different Raglan and Hamilton venues.

There are five classes available to take part in at Dance NZ with in-person and online options, each designed differently to provide specific benefits and suit particular needs and abilities. As a senior, the most suitable classes would be Nia Dance Move to Heal (11:15 a.m., Tuesday) and Gentle Nia (9:30 a.m., Wednesday). Both classes are currently only accessible through Zoom due to Covid restrictions in Hamilton, however, Dance NZ and their classes will resume at their various, lovely venues, like Saint Aidan’s Hall, soon.

Even though classes are currently being held online, you can still experience a strong social connection with new peers and your Nia Dance instructor through Zoom. You can create new friendships across the internet during your workout and once lockdown has been lifted, have the opportunity to meet your new peers in person outside of classes and at in-person sessions.

If you find yourself struggling to attend specific class times and dates, don’t stress! Dance NZ offers replays of classes that can be purchased for a 24-hour period. All seniors are currently able to receive an incredible 40% discount on all purchases on the Dance NZ website so book your classes while this fabulous deal is still available!
