An In-Person Nia Dance Move to Heal Class!

Nia Dance Move to Heal

Nia With Belinda provides a Nia Dance class that is a part of the ACC Recovery Programs, called Nia Dance Move to Heal. This specific class is targeted towards those with limited mobility, in the ACC recovery process of an injury or ailment, or are suffering from another health issue or pain. Nia Dance Move to Heal was designed to use gentle variations of the 52 total Nia Dance movements in order to be tender on the body while still providing the same health benefits as other classes and more intense versions of these forms.

Nia Dance Move to Heal is an Approved Waikato Strength and Balance Programme!

Nia Dance Supporting You Through Recovery

Nia Dance is a unique blend of techniques, movements, and forms from different martial arts (like Tai-Chi), dance arts (like Duncan dance), and healing arts (such as Yoga). This combination is what allows Nia Dance to be accessible to any individual, no matter the level of mobility, ability, or restrictive illness. The Nia technique is a completely freeing and gentle form of dance that requires you to become in-tune and listen to your body, adjusting movements so nothing is forced.

The physical benefits of Nia Dance include increased mobility and joint flexibility, improved muscle strength, supported circulation throughout the body, heightened sensory functions, improved organ functions, and an increase in coordination and balance. There are numerous other mental health benefits as well, including an increase in emotional wellbeing and boosted mood, calm energy, a decrease in symptoms of anxiety and depression, release of tension, stronger spiritual connection, and self-discovery.

On top of these mental health and physical health benefits, Nia Dance is a great way to form new social connections and build on old ones!
