If you’re looking for something enjoyable that you can participate in whenever you want in your own time and space, or socially in group sessions, Nia Dance might be perfect for you.

The Nia Technique is a holistic practice in the form of fitness and dance, designed to support those who practice this art to become more in tune with their physical body, mind, senses, and emotions. It’s a more relaxing form of fitness that is entertaining on your own or in a group setting.

Classes at Nia With Belinda aim to provide fun and social 60-minute Nia Dance workouts to anyone interested in staying productive, expanding social circles, or looking for something exciting to mix into your schedule.

How Can Nia Dance Be Fun?

“Nobody cares if you’re out of step. It’s about fun and movement”.

Even if you’re not particularly fond of dancing, Nia Dance has multiple movements that replicate yoga forms or martial art techniques, which allows you to feel like you’re doing more than just dancing. Even within the dance arts, there are different variations of dance that Nia Dance replicates, making it a unique combination of movements that anyone can participate in and have fun performing.

Unlike other fitness groups where you might feel judged based on lack of experience or activity level, or feel pressure to keep up and perform every exercise perfectly, Nia Dance embraces beginners and the experienced alike. Classes at Nia With Belinda are known to be completely judgment-free zones and have sessions that are more advanced, like Classic Nia, or start at an easier level, like Gentle Nia.

Nia Dance is also all about free-flowing movements and adding your own style and rhythm to the moves your teacher provides. This makes the exercises feel more natural and exciting through the slight improvisation of your movements.

Is Nia Dance Something I Can Do Outside of Classes?

Definitely! Not only are the movements of Nia Dance simple and easy to learn and follow, but it also requires no equipment or specific location. You don’t even need shoes! If you’re looking for a fun form of exercise that you can complete outside of class just as easily as inside of class, Nia Dance is the ideal practice to pursue.

It can be done alone, or with family, friends, or a significant other which adds to the enjoyability of it and can be a good form of bonding between you and your peers. You can practice movements and complete workouts at home, in the garden, or even in a park.

You can access recorded Nia Dance routines on YouTube or NiaTv. Nia With Belinda even has 24-hour replays of classes available for purchase, allowing you to rewatch, rewind or fast-forward, and pause or play any class of your choice.

Nia Dance v.s. Other Fitness Groups

Nia Dance is composed of workouts that combine 52 different moves, with every move originating from dance, martial, or healing arts. This blend of three different arts allows multiple areas to be focused on and receive benefits; mental states, physical body, spiritual connections, and emotional wellbeing are the main areas targeted and strengthened through Nia Dance.

While other forms of fitness, such as Boxfit, Yoga, or Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, only focus on either the physical or mental area, Nia Dance targets all areas and strives to teach you long-term support for your health and mind.

These classes were made to let go of worries and tension, instead of focusing on fun and mindfulness, while other exercise groups (i.e. Crossfit) tend to center on physical physique and health, or how hard you’re working out. Many of these types of classes try to push you to your limits, while Nia Dance tells you to do what is most comfortable and free-flowing.
