Online fitness classes and home workout routines have become increasingly more popular over the past couple of years, with a large spike around the time Covid-19 impacted the world. Gyms, in-person exercise groups, and fitness influencers began to produce content for individuals to access online from the comfort of their own homes.

However, online fitness is still not nearly as accessible as physical classes, especially in areas such as martial arts or dance. A lot of these classes or instructional videos that are available require, majority of the time, specific equipment, high expenses, or are prerecorded and lack any form of connection.

Nia With Belinda Zoom Session from a Laptop Set-up!

Nia With Belinda Online

Nia With Belinda is a Hamilton and Raglan-based Nia Dance group that provides a variety of classes for all individuals, no matter their mobility, availability, or ability. Belinda Goodwin, your teacher at Nia With Belinda, has made her classes more accessible, with the option of attending from home over a live Zoom session.

This alternative is ideal for those who prefer working out on their own and in their personal space, lack the time in their schedule to attend in-person, or individuals who may not be able to leave home due to injuries or illness, lack of transportation, or any other reason.

Nia Dance doesn’t require any equipment, such as resistance bands, weights, or even shoes, so the only thing you need to think about is the device you’ll be streaming the class on, and what space in your household you’ll be working out in.

All Nia With Belinda Zoom sessions for classes can be booked below:

• Nia Dance Move to Heal Tuesday classes (11:15 am) are also accessible via Zoom and can be booked here.

• Classic Nia Tuesday classes (5:30 pm) are also accessible via Zoom and can be booked here.

• Gentle Nia Wednesday classes (9:30 am) are also accessible via Zoom and can be booked here.

How Your Zoom Interface Should Look!

Setting Up at Home

Once you’re all booked up and registered, the only thing you need to do is download the Zoom application on your tablet, laptop, or device you’re using to stream the class and wait until your session’s date and time roll around. You can download Zoom for your device here.

It’s a good idea to join the Zoom link you’re provided 5 to 10 minutes before your class actually starts, to ensure there are no technical difficulties around your internet connection, your camera, or the screen display. Check out our blog here for more information on strengthening your broadband connection.

If you have Chromecast, it’s a good idea to cast the Zoom session onto your TV from whatever device you’re using to get a bigger, better video feed for your workout! Alternatively, you can use an HDMI cord or the screen of your device if you don’t mind a smaller video.
