It has been shown to improve many of the struggles which are commonly paired with the disease. From balance, motor and cognitive issues, it has been seen how to dance, especially low impact dance such as Nia Dance can help ease these symptoms in some participants.&nbsp;</p>

Many of the exercises that are catered towards seniors aren&#8217;t able to provide a large and diverse variety of mental, physical, spiritual, social, and emotional benefits. This blog will be sharing knowledge on a wonderful, <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/live-classes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gentle seniors movement in Hamilton</a> that has a large number of advantages and numerous participation options.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nia Dance And Its Influence On Seniors</strong></h2>

<p><a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> is a one-of-a-kind exercise method that takes a <a href="https://www.fitnessfirst.com.hk/blog/holistic-fitness" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic approach</a>, in the form of dance, to deliver benefits and tools to improve your <a href="https://www.bustle.com/articles/170117-13-ways-to-fix-your-life-when-it-feels-like-everything-is-going-wrong" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">lifestyle and attitude</a>. Also known under the name of the Nia Technique, Nia Dance is made up of nine different movement arts as well as <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzKlB5g8oxrNl30wDatRBl92iEbY97rRh" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">powerful music</a>, and influential spoken and <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/in-depth/mindfulness-exercises/art-20046356" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mindfulness teachings</a>. Nia Dance is a tremendous tool for improving not just your physical health but also your mental, spiritual, social and emotional well-being through gentle movements.</p>

<p></p>

<p>A Nia Dance routine, whether performed like an experienced dancer or sitting down with soft actions, should always leave you feeling clear-headed, emotionally balanced, and happy. You may leave feeling energetic and productive, or more relaxed, depending on how you altered your movements throughout your Nia Dance practice to <a href="https://theeverygirl.com/15-realistic-fitness-goals-to-make-this-year-and-exactly-how-to-accomplish-them/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">align with your goals</a> going into the class.&nbsp;</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance is well-known to be a <a href="https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/easy-low-impact-exercises/#:~:text=Low%2Dimpact%20exercises%20can%20improve,the%20risk%20of%20heart%20disease." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">non-impact form of exercise</a> and is highly adaptable to every person&#8217;s mobility levels, abilities, and other specific needs. This makes it a perfect routine for seniors to enjoy and follow along; Nia Dance can even be performed sitting down using just your upper body, while still offering the same benefits!</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance helps you utilise the pleasant emotions you feel throughout your Nia exercise outside of class and be able to feel these same emotions outside of classes or Nia workouts. As a result, the Nia Technique is more than a dance style as it can teach and motivate you to live a more meaningful, happier life.</p>

This blog will be talking about a <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/blogs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">social seniors exercise in Hamilton, Raglan and online</a> that will completely change your way of living!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How Nia Dance Can Make You Happier and Improve Wellbeing as a Senior</strong></h2>

<p>Nia Dance is a very unique form of fitness, with a <a href="https://www.fitnessfirst.com.hk/blog/holistic-fitness" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic approach</a> that can provide more than just full-body benefits. The Nia Technique is comprised of 9 diverse movement arts, originating from the <a href="https://kesfitness.com/wellness/tui-na-massage-therapy/relationship-martial-arts-healing/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">healing, martial</a>, and <a href="https://wellingtondance.co.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dance scene</a>, and has influential music and verbal teachings. Combining all of these factors, Nia Dance is a powerful tool for positively boosting not just your physical health but the state of your mental and emotional well-being.</p>

<p></p>

<p>During a Nia workout, there are <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/7-cycles-of-nia-dance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">7 different cycles</a> that you&#8217;ll be guided through. Each cycle affects your body differently, with movement speed and style changing to provide you with a variety of benefits. Some of these include reduced anxiety or depressive symptoms, removal of stress, calmer energy, improved feelings of happiness, increased productivity and much more.</p>

<p></p>

<p>After a Nia workout, you can expect to always feel clear-headed, emotionally balanced and significantly happier. Depending on how you adapted your movements during your Nia Dance workout and your intentions or goals heading into the routine, you may also find yourself leaving energised and feeling productive, or perhaps more relaxed and calm.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance also teaches different <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/in-depth/mindfulness-exercises/art-20046356" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mindfulness practices</a> and verbal teachings from inspired movement arts so that you have the tools and skills to apply the positive emotions you experience during your Nia workout outside of classes. Through this, Nia Dance is more than just a dance style and can teach and inspire you to lead a more <a href="https://www.inc.com/brent-gleeson/16-ways-to-be-happier-and-live-a-more-fulfilling-life.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fulfilling, happier lifestyle with a joyous attitude</a>.</p>

Today&#8217;s blog will be discussing a <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fantastic exercise for Parkinsons in Hamilton or online</a> that combines many of these beneficial techniques to create an extremely effective workout for those with Parkinson&#8217;s, as well as their caregivers.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="595" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-01-at-10.32.51-PM-1024x595.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3323" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-01-at-10.32.51-PM-1024x595.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-01-at-10.32.51-PM-980x569.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-01-at-10.32.51-PM-480x279.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Positive Impact of Nia Dance on Parkinson&#8217;s</strong></h2>

<p><a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> is a dance form and style of fitness that was designed following the inspiration and layout of nine different movement arts. These include <a href="https://www.dancemagazine.com/dance-as-a-healing-art-2647439136.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">healing, dance</a>, and <a href="https://www.chansmartialarts.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">martial arts</a>, with some techniques including <a href="https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/tai-chi-or-yoga-4-important-differences" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">yoga, tai-chi</a>, <a href="http://aikido.org.nz/dojos/wellington/wellington-city/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">aikido</a>, and <a href="https://hjs.org.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">jazz</a>, all of which have research that shows the many benefits they have towards Parkinson&#8217;s disease.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Because Nia Dance is the combination of this unique blend, as well as having followed the complex design of the human body and nervous system, it has a profound positive impact for those with Parkinson&#8217;s. This impact can range from physical and mental benefits, to social and spiritual advantages too. Nia Dance is a <a href="https://www.parkinsons.org.nz/exercises-for-parkinsons" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">non-impact style of exercise</a> and is highly adaptable too. This means that no matter your individual needs, abilities or level of mobility, you can participate in Nia Dance and still receive all of its wonderful benefits. </p>

<p></p>

<p>For individuals with Parkinson&#8217;s, this can be a very important factor; with Nia Dance, you can take part in the movements standing up using your whole body or even sitting down using your upper body. You don&#8217;t need to replicate movements perfectly. Instead, you can adjust them to what suits your body and create your interpretation of each move, reducing your risk of injury, tiring out or sweating.</p>

<p></p>

<p>The music played in Nia Dance sessions were also designed to positively boost your mind, body and soul, and help deliver great advantages to individual&#8217;s with Parkinson&#8217;s too. Today&#8217;s blog will be discussing a <a href="https://www.agingcare.com/articles/health-benefits-of-dancing-170535.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fun social seniors dance</a> that&#8217;s easily adaptable for all body types and strengths.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="956" height="670" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-27-at-9.18.18-PM.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3290" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-27-at-9.18.18-PM.png 956w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-27-at-9.18.18-PM-480x336.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 956px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Fun and Social Side of Nia Dance&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p><a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> is an easily <a href="https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/easy-low-impact-exercises/#:~:text=Low%2Dimpact%20exercises%20can%20improve,the%20risk%20of%20heart%20disease." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">adjustable and non-impact form</a> of dance and exercise, making it an <a href="https://sandiaviewassistedliving.org/10-best-social-activities-for-the-elderly/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ideal social activity</a> for everybody. Because of its high level of adaptability, any Nia Dance session you attend will likely provide you with the opportunity to meet a diverse range of individuals, people you may not have the chance to befriend under any other circumstances.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Its easiness to adapt comes from its unique design; Nia Dance takes inspiration from nine different movement arts, each offering their own take on physical actions and verbal teachings. Some of these movement arts are martial, healing and dance, and include <a href="https://www.taichi.net.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">tai-ch</a>i, <a href="https://www.aikido-international.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">aikido</a>, and <a href="https://spaceyoga.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">yoga</a>.</p>

<p></p>

<p>The diverse combination of all these arts offers great benefits for your <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/flu/seniors-guide-to-staying-healthy" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wellbeing and health</a>, especially as a senior. Some of these advantages include improved mobility, greater flexibility, loosened joints, enhanced balance and coordination, better posture, and heightened organ, brain and circulation functions.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dances adaptability allows you to perform movements and routines standing up, using your full body, or sitting down with the motion of just your upper body. The movements of Nia Dance were designed to not make you sweat or tire out, and have a highly reduced risk of injury.&nbsp;</p>

<p></p>

<p>This means you can optimise the fun and enjoyment you&#8217;re having each Nia Dance workout because you&#8217;re not pushing your body to its limits and, instead, listening to what flows best through your body. Having this freedom of moving gives you more room in your mind and body to <a href="https://www.inc.com/peter-economy/how-to-instantly-sprinkle-your-life-with-more-fun.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">open yourself up to having fun</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="944" height="656" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-27-at-9.17.41-PM.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3291" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-27-at-9.17.41-PM.png 944w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-27-at-9.17.41-PM-480x334.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 944px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nia Dance For Seniors at Dance NZ</strong></h2>

<p>At <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dance NZ</a>, there are five classes available both online and in-person. For seniors, there are three different classes that would be ideal. You can narrow down which class is perfect for you by identifying which class and its benefits align with your specific needs or reasons for taking part in Nia Dance.&nbsp;</p>

<p></p>

<p>If you&#8217;re suffering from an injury currently, whether it&#8217;s back pains or a sprained ankle, <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/gentle-injury-dance-hamilton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance Move to Heal</a> is a great choice. It&#8217;s design was made to provide intense healing to areas of your body that require it and is identified as an <a href="https://www.acc.co.nz/for-providers/treatment-recovery/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ACC recovery programme</a> too. Movements are adapted to be softer on the body, especially in areas where you&#8217;re in pain.</p>

<p></p>

<p><a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/social-beginners-dance-hamilton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gentle Nia</a> is a great option if you&#8217;re a beginner to dance or require something with softer movements. Depending on your level of mobility and flexibility, this would be a great class to opt for. If you or someone else you know has Parkinson&#8217;s, then <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/social-parkinsons-dance-hamilton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia for Parkinson&#8217;s Freedom Dance</a> is a wonderful class to join! Caregivers are encouraged to join too and can be a fantastic way to build closer bonds and new social ties!</p>

<p></p>

<p>All classes, whether attended online or in-person, provide you with the opportunity to meet not only a diverse range of individuals but people who may be able to relate to you through situations or circumstances in common with you.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-video"><video controls src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/dancenzvid0284849.mp4"></video></figure>

<p><a href="https://www.healthnavigator.org.nz/health-a-z/p/parkinsons/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Parkinsons is neurological disease</a> that commonly affects individuals within the senior community. This degenerative ailment often causes the individual to have difficulty moving, as well as undergo symptoms such as slurred speech, tremors, or depression. This blog will discuss an excellent <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/parkinsons-exercise-classes-hamilton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">social Parkinsons dance Hamilton class</a>, going in-depth about the movement form practiced and its effect on Parkinson&#8217;s.</p>

<p></p>

<p>While there is no present treatment for Parkinson&#8217;s, there&#8217;s a range of studies that detail specific exercise, activities, and types of movement that can help deal with symptoms of Parkinson&#8217;s. Some forms of fitness that help significantly include yoga, tai-chi, and dance to name a few. Research has also indicated that people with higher levels of activity tend to present Parkinson&#8217;s symptoms with lower severity.</p>

<p></p>

<p>If you or someone you know has Parkinson&#8217;s, read on to learn about the wonders of Nia Dance, how this holistic dance fitness can help with Parkinson&#8217;s symptoms, and where to access it.</p>

<p></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="691" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-07-at-8.30.51-PM-1024x691.png" alt="" class="wp-image-2134" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-07-at-8.30.51-PM-1024x691.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-07-at-8.30.51-PM-980x662.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-07-at-8.30.51-PM-480x324.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Wonders of Nia Dance for Parkinsons</strong></h2>

<p>Nia Dance is a <a href="https://www.holisticmovement.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic movement and mindfulness practice</a> that takes the form of 52 dance movements. It&#8217;s <a href="https://www.nof.org/patients/treatment/exercisesafe-movement/non-impact-exercises/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">non-impact and highly adaptable</a>, and can be performed standing up using your whole body or sitting down, being performed by just your upper body. </p>

<p></p>

<p>Each of the 52 movements is inspired and adapted from 9 different movements arts, coming from healing, dance, or martial arts. Some of these inspired movement forms include tai-chi and yoga, both of which are highly recommended exercises for individuals with Parkinson&#8217;s.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia dance is about listening to your body and changing the style of movements to best suit your body&#8217;s limitations rather than forcing actions and potentially risking injury or fatigue. This <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1469029220308554?dgcid=rss_sd_all" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">form of holistic movement</a> has been demonstrated to improve quality of life, emotional well-being, mental and physical health, and improve symptoms associated with Parkinson&#8217;s disease.</p>

<p></p>

<p>When practiced in person, Nia Dance can be a great way for people to <a href="https://www.michaeljfox.org/news/parkinsons-and-your-social-life-advice-our-community" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">socialise and have the opportunity to meet new people</a>. It&#8217;s also a fantastic way to support others and be supported in a safe, calm, judgment-free environment. Because Parkinson&#8217;s disease can sometimes disrupt relationships and socialization, it&#8217;s beneficial to build bonds with individuals who are facing similar issues. </p>

<p></p>
