<p>Found yourself feeling tense and overwhelmed? What better way to unwind and re-collaborate yourself with some Gentle Nia Dance in Raglan or online. Nia “Neuromuscular Integrative Action” or “non-impact aerobics” but, its best representation of the dance is from its Swahili derived meaning “with purpose”. </p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance is all about giving purpose to its movement. Nia combines elements of yoga, martial arts and tai chi with dance and yoga movements, and, like aerobics, is set to music. In a single class, the music genre may vary, making it a certainly eclectic exercise.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What Can I Gain From Gentle Nia?</strong></h2>

<p>There are many benefits in which you can gain through the movement of Nia Dance. Moving is more than just exercise and doesn’t require an effort but does require action. Movement affects every aspect of our health, including circulation, digestion, metabolism, and immunity. We roll over, crawl and bounce as babies, gaining muscle in our bodies as we move. As children, we run, shake and dance. But as adults, we sit for hours a day and don’t necessarily get as much movement as we used to.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Additionally, in Nia classes, the cardio movement enhances our heart’s fitness and its ability to supply oxygen-rich blood to the muscles. By releasing feel-good chemicals called endorphins, cardio exercise also boosts and alleviates one’s mood, benefitting you. Experts believe those who live with elevated moods, tend to live a happier life and while mood affects both the brain and heart functions, it can positively impact your health.</p>

<p></p>

<p>EveryBODY benefits from greater activity in their routine, and movement also aid in any healing processes you may need, whether you realize it or not. Through the use of Nia, it has allowed me to tap into my full potential in order to live a healthy and meaningful life. Nia helps me to pay attention to my body’s, mind’s, spirits’ and emotions’ requirements. Nia is a holistic fitness practice that addresses all elements of my life – body, mind and soul. It is more than just a workout.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Wanting to start your 2022 off right but not sure where to begin? Some of the most popular New Years resolutions include bettering health, trying something new, and getting involved in fitness. With this peaceful, gentle dance in Raglan, you can achieve all three of these resolutions with a sustainable routine. Read onwards to discover more about Nia Dance, where you can practice this technique, exciting New Years deals and offers, and the perfect class for you.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="701" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.25.52-PM-1024x701.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4061" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.25.52-PM-1024x701.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.25.52-PM-980x670.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.25.52-PM-480x328.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Dance and Fitness In A Way You&#8217;ve Never Experienced Before</strong></h2>

<p>When it comes to fitness-based New Years resolutions, it can be very difficult to maintain this routine for many people. Some of the largest reasons for not being able to sustain this lifestyle throughout the year are due to setting intense and unrealistic goals (i.e. losing 20 kgs in one month) and doing non-enjoyable fitness. </p>

<p></p>

<p>To have sustainable fitness goals, you have to enjoy what you&#8217;re doing. If you don&#8217;t enjoy going to the gym, you&#8217;re likely not going to stick out a year of attending but if you find what you like, such as yoga or dance, you can maintain a healthy lifestyle for a longer period because you&#8217;re having fun.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance is a dance form that adapts movements and teachings from popular fitness styles, such as yoga, tai-chi and tae-kwon-do. Nia stands for Non-Impact Aerobics, meaning each of the 52 movements are easily adaptable for your body or restrictions (i.e. low mobility, injury, etc). And, no matter how you adapt the movements, you can still receive 100% of the health benefits that come along with Nia Dance. When it comes to setting goals within fitness, it&#8217;s important that your main aim is to be healthy. If you&#8217;re aiming for overall better bodily and mental health, then you&#8217;ll find yourself enjoying the process of your fitness/health journey.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance provides benefits for the mind, body and soul, for all ages, genders, activity levels and body types. Some of these amazing benefits include higher quality organ function, increased cognition, better hand-eye coordination and balance, higher positive energy and happiness, lowered stress and depressive levels, stronger self-connection and spiritual bond, and much more!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="659" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.26.30-PM-1024x659.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4062" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.26.30-PM-1024x659.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.26.30-PM-980x630.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screen-Shot-2022-01-13-at-10.26.30-PM-480x309.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Dance NZ Providing Gentle Exercise To Boost Your 2022 Energy</strong></h2>

<p>If your New Year&#8217;s resolution is to get involved in fitness, you&#8217;re likely going to be looking for something on the gentler side as to not overwork your body. Or if you&#8217;re wanting to give something new a go this year, you&#8217;ll probably want to start with a beginner-type class, even if you&#8217;re an experienced dancer or fitness-goer. Gentle Nia at Dance NZ will be the ideal class for you if you want to be healthy using a sustainable fitness routine while having fun!</p>

<p></p>

<p>No matter your abilities, each cycle can easily be adapted to what your body needs and can perform. Anyone, regardless of gender, age, or unique needs and abilities, can engage in Nia Dance.&nbsp;Being able to adapt and easily change movements to suit your body can significantly lower the chance of injury while also reducing exhaustion and muscle aches. Listening to your body also allows you to <a href="https://www.steezy.co/posts/how-to-develop-your-unique-style-as-a-dancer" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">show off your distinct personality</a> in the dance.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Some benefits of Nia Dance most commonly include mental clarity, a more enjoyable view on life, weight loss, a greater positive attitude, calmer energy, higher productivity, muscular toning, improved spinal posture, increased endurance, higher levels of mobility and flexibility, enhanced balance and coordination, better circulation, and improved cognitive and organ performance.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Aside from the cycles and adaptability of Nia Dance, the music played during exercises is equally important in making the routine more gentle. Nia Dance music is specifically chosen to stimulate your nervous system, generate sensations of calm by <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/binaural-beats#:~:text=Binaural%20beats%20in%20the%20alpha,problem%20solving%2C%20and%20improved%20memory." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">binaural frequencies</a>, and open and <a href="https://www.soul-flower.com/blog/activate-your-chakras/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">activate your body&#8217;s seven chakras</a>. Nia Dance music is sometimes described as beautiful and harmonic, and it utilises a wide range of instruments and chords to bring a sense of tranquillity to your routine. The music will help you ease through cycles gently and allow movements to flow through your body in a soft manner.</p>

Many of the exercises that are catered towards seniors aren&#8217;t able to provide a large and diverse variety of mental, physical, spiritual, social, and emotional benefits. This blog will be sharing knowledge on a wonderful, <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/live-classes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gentle seniors movement in Hamilton</a> that has a large number of advantages and numerous participation options.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="558" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-17-at-10.47.33-AM-1024x558.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3605" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-17-at-10.47.33-AM-1024x558.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-17-at-10.47.33-AM-980x534.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-17-at-10.47.33-AM-480x262.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nia Dance And Its Influence On Seniors</strong></h2>

<p><a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> is a one-of-a-kind exercise method that takes a <a href="https://www.fitnessfirst.com.hk/blog/holistic-fitness" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic approach</a>, in the form of dance, to deliver benefits and tools to improve your <a href="https://www.bustle.com/articles/170117-13-ways-to-fix-your-life-when-it-feels-like-everything-is-going-wrong" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">lifestyle and attitude</a>. Also known under the name of the Nia Technique, Nia Dance is made up of nine different movement arts as well as <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzKlB5g8oxrNl30wDatRBl92iEbY97rRh" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">powerful music</a>, and influential spoken and <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/in-depth/mindfulness-exercises/art-20046356" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mindfulness teachings</a>. Nia Dance is a tremendous tool for improving not just your physical health but also your mental, spiritual, social and emotional well-being through gentle movements.</p>

<p></p>

<p>A Nia Dance routine, whether performed like an experienced dancer or sitting down with soft actions, should always leave you feeling clear-headed, emotionally balanced, and happy. You may leave feeling energetic and productive, or more relaxed, depending on how you altered your movements throughout your Nia Dance practice to <a href="https://theeverygirl.com/15-realistic-fitness-goals-to-make-this-year-and-exactly-how-to-accomplish-them/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">align with your goals</a> going into the class.&nbsp;</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance is well-known to be a <a href="https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/easy-low-impact-exercises/#:~:text=Low%2Dimpact%20exercises%20can%20improve,the%20risk%20of%20heart%20disease." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">non-impact form of exercise</a> and is highly adaptable to every person&#8217;s mobility levels, abilities, and other specific needs. This makes it a perfect routine for seniors to enjoy and follow along; Nia Dance can even be performed sitting down using just your upper body, while still offering the same benefits!</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance helps you utilise the pleasant emotions you feel throughout your Nia exercise outside of class and be able to feel these same emotions outside of classes or Nia workouts. As a result, the Nia Technique is more than a dance style as it can teach and motivate you to live a more meaningful, happier life.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Music of Nia Dance</h2>

<p>Aside from the movements of Nia Dance, <a href="https://www.nami.org/Blogs/NAMI-Blog/December-2016/The-Impact-of-Music-Therapy-on-Mental-Health#:~:text=Because%20of%20its%20rhythmic%20and,depressive%2C%20angry%20or%20anxious%20state." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the music played during workouts</a> is also crucial to benefit your wellness and health. Music in Nia Dance is specially designed and chosen to stimulate your nervous system, induce feelings of relaxation through <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/binaural-beats#:~:text=Binaural%20beats%20are%20considered%20auditory,separately%2C%20one%20through%20each%20ear." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">binaural frequencies</a>, open and stimulate the <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness-exercise/7-chakras" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">7 chakras of your body</a>, and stimulate your organs. </p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance music is often classified as melodious and harmonious and incorporates a variety of instruments and different chords to be able to provide all the benefits that it does. Nia Dance can be participated by anyone, no matter your gender, age or specific, individual needs and abilities. </p>

<p></p>

<p>Beneficial Nia Dance music can take the form of any genre and rhythm, making it relatable and fun for anybody. Movements are highly adaptable too, as Nia Dance is very much focused on becoming in-tune with your body so you don&#8217;t force unnatural movements upon yourself.&nbsp;</p>

<p></p>

<p>This can reduce the risk of injury, as well as eliminating exhaustion or feeling sore after a Nia workout. Listening to your body also opens your heart to the freedom of <a href="https://www.steezy.co/posts/how-to-develop-your-unique-style-as-a-dancer" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">adding your unique personality and technique to the movements</a>, whether it&#8217;s a more sensuous vibe or jazzy flow.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="583" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-23-at-9.47.07-PM-1024x583.png" alt="" class="wp-image-2723" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-23-at-9.47.07-PM-1024x583.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-23-at-9.47.07-PM-980x558.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-23-at-9.47.07-PM-480x273.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p>Are you searching for a <a href="https://www.cae.edu.au/news/four-gentle-exercise-practices-to-get-in-shape/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fitness practice</a> that&#8217;s gentle on your body but provides a wide variety of health benefits? Something that suits your individual abilities and experience levels? This blog focuses on <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/events/nia-dance-move-to-heal-2-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gentle beginners dance classes in Raglan</a>, going into detail about the technique and the benefits.</p>

<p></p>

<p>When it comes to finding an exercise with soft movements, it can be difficult <a href="https://www.mydr.com.au/choose-the-right-exercise-for-you/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">finding the right practice</a> for you. It might be stressful not knowing where to begin, but thankfully, there&#8217;s a perfect technique that can appeal to all individuals, regardless of talents or experience!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="626" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-15-at-9.12.51-PM-1024x626.png" alt="" class="wp-image-2503" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-15-at-9.12.51-PM-1024x626.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-15-at-9.12.51-PM-980x599.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-15-at-9.12.51-PM-480x294.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Nia Dance Provides Gentle Movements For Your Body</h2>

<p><a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> is a gentle, <a href="https://www.fitnessfirst.com.hk/blog/holistic-fitness" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic movement</a> made up of 52 movements derived from different <a href="https://ncca.gov.ph/about-ncca-3/subcommissions/subcommission-on-the-arts-sca/dance/philippine-martial-dance/#:~:text=Martial%20dances%20pertain%20to%20war,Cordillera%20Region%20of%20Northern%20Luzon." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dance, martial</a>, and <a href="https://healingarts.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">healing art </a>forms. <a href="https://www.taichi.net.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tai-chi</a>, the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2007/mar/10/healthandwellbeing.shopping#:~:text=The%20Alexander%20technique%20is%20a,the%20top%20of%20the%20spine." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Alexander practice</a>, and <a href="https://www.awhiyoga.co.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">yoga</a> are just a handful of the 9 arts included.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Because the movements in Nia Dance are <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness-exercise/low-impact-exercises" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">non-impact and extremely adjustable</a>, it&#8217;s an excellent type of practice for <a href="https://clockify.me/blog/managing-time/be-proactive/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">beginners who want to become proactive</a> in a soothing style. You can focus on your <a href="https://medium.com/mind-cafe/how-to-create-a-meaningful-connection-with-almost-anyone-770598a7d665" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">self-connection</a> (both mentally and physically), as well as your connection to people around you.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance is a lot easier on the body than high-intensity training forms like <a href="https://www.experimentsinwellness.com/boxing-tabata-workout/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tabata or Boxfit</a>. This is because these types of fitness aim to tire your body out and push it to its limit. Nia Dance is something pleasant and social that will enhance your health without placing strain on your body. This dance practice can help you achieve any fitness goal or reason for starting while ensuring your body isn&#8217;t put under stress.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance has spiritual, emotional, and lifestyle advantages in addition to physical and mental health benefits. It also not only helps you develop your mind and body in class but also teaches you the tools you&#8217;ll need to continue doing so in your everyday life.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Some of these different benefits include pain relief, calm energy and mindset, higher levels of coordination and balance, enhanced cognitive levels, supported organ function, mental clarity, a deeper self and spiritual connection, weight loss, improved muscle strength, lowered symptoms of depression and anxiety, fewer feelings of tension in your life, and increased mobility and better joint flexibility.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="883" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/gentleniavenuedancnz-1024x883.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2500" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/gentleniavenuedancnz-1024x883.jpg 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/gentleniavenuedancnz-980x845.jpg 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/gentleniavenuedancnz-480x414.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /><figcaption>Our gorgeous venue, Raglan Town Hall. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gentle Nia At Dance NZ</h2>

<p><a href="http://dancenz.co.nz" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dance NZ</a> is a Nia Technique dance group based in New Zealand. This company provides Nia Dance sessions in Hamilton and Raglan as well as online via <a href="https://zoom.us/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Zoom</a>. They provide an excellent class that is appropriate for people who are new to dancing, new to fitness, or who require <a href="https://ccc.govt.nz/rec-and-sport/rec-and-sport-centres/fitness/group-fitness/gentle/gentle-exercise" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gentle exercises</a>.</p>

You&#8217;ll find your classmates and instructor, Belinda Goodwin, to be energetic, encouraging, and easy to make new social relationships with, so you won&#8217;t feel alone!</p>

<p></p>

<p>Another fantastic feature that Dance NZ offers is that if you don&#8217;t feel comfortable performing in front of others or just aren&#8217;t in the region, you can still participate via live Zoom sessions that capture physical courses. You may let go and feel fully comfortable practising Nia Dance in the comfort of your own home, not having to be required to leave your microphone or camera on.</p>

<p></p>

<p><a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/buy-a-replay/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">24-hour replays</a> are also available for purchase and can be watched as many times as you like within the 24-hour time period.
