It can be extremely difficult finding and creating new social connections or expanding your social circles, and much of the time, the older you get, the hard it becomes to meet new people. When weekly routines have no variation, and your lifestyle and schedule have no forms of socialisation outside of work, current friends, or family, the chances of interacting with new people are slim.
One of the top ways to create new social connections is through social sports teams, fitness groups and gyms, and dance classes. Dance NZ is a dance group based in Hamilton and Raglan that provides the perfect environment to meet new people and expand your social circles, as well as strengthen the friendships you already have if you decide to bring friends or family along.

Why Nia Dance?
Nia Dance is a unique form of exercise and dance due to its diverse composition and its ability to cater to all ages, genders, and levels of mobility and ability. This allows for a wide range of individuals to be able to participate and opens your social circles to a more diversified group of people.
Nia Dance is also an easy form of exercise and movement on the body, which means if trying something new and meeting new people are your goals rather than intense exercise that tires you out, Nia Dance is perfect.
Comprised of numerous healing arts, dance arts, and martial arts, Nia Dance is a non-impact, free-flowing form of dance, aimed for you to become in-tune with your body and listen to what movements feel right, leaving you with numerous physical, mental, and spiritual health and lifestyle benefits. It’s easy to smile and have fun with your peers and teachers with Nia Dance.

Dance NZ Classes
Dance NZ has numerous classes that allow for great socialisation depending on your reasoning or needs. For example, you may be in a recovery process currently due to injury or illness, and have found you’ve been lacking social connections during this time due to limited movement or accessibility; Dance NZ provides Nia Dance Move to Heal, an ACC Recovery class designed for those with injuries and less mobility, so you can start being social again while meeting people in a similar situation.
For complete beginners to exercise or those with limited mobility, Gentle Nia is perfect for you to meet others with similar abilities and you may even form social connections that lead to practice outside of classes. Nia for Parkinson’s FREEDOM DANCE is a class specifically designed for those with Parkinson’s and their caregivers, making this a fantastic social connection group for those with Parkinson’s.
Classic Nia is ideal for skilled dancers, those with confidence in their abilities, or who have high levels of mobility and joint flexibility. So, no matter your current position, Dance NZ has a class perfect for you with the right environment to socialise. Dance NZ also holds get-togethers outside of classes every now and then, making them different from other exercise or dance groups.
