Well, look no further than this <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/blogs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">blog</a>! Today we&#8217;ll be discussing a beautiful <a href="https://www.thehealthboard.com/what-is-holistic-fitness.htm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic technique</a> and dance for wellness in Raglan that aims to nourish your mind through stimulating movement, <a href="https://www.nami.org/Blogs/NAMI-Blog/December-2016/The-Impact-of-Music-Therapy-on-Mental-Health#:~:text=Because%20of%20its%20rhythmic%20and,depressive%2C%20angry%20or%20anxious%20state." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">harmonic music</a>, and <a href="https://esrc.ukri.org/news-events-and-publications/evidence-briefings/mental-health-and-social-relationships/#:~:text=Social%20isolation%20has%20long%20been,also%20known%20to%20boost%20wellbeing." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">social and supportive group environment</a>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Create a Positive Space for Your Mental Health With Nia Dance</h2>

<p>Made to nurture and fulfil your mind, body, and soul, <a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> offers an abundance of mental and emotional wellness benefits. There are numerous ways that Nia Dance is able to do this, no matter your ability, age or the number of times or consistency you perform it at. One of its methods of boosting your wellness is through its music design. Using <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/binaural-beats#:~:text=Binaural%20beats%20in%20the%20alpha,problem%20solving%2C%20and%20improved%20memory." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">binaural frequencies</a> and specific chords and instruments, these sounds can stimulate your neural pathways and brain to produce positive benefits such as calmer energy, <a href="https://positivepsychology.com/mindfulness-exercises-techniques-activities/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">higher mindfulness levels</a> and a <a href="https://mccormickcenter.nl.edu/library/practicing-mindfulness/#:~:text=Practice%20mindful%20Seeing&amp;text=Find%20a%20relaxed%2C%20comfortable%20position%20with%20your%20hands%20resting%20comfortably,through%20your%20mouth%2C%20three%20times." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sense of peace</a>.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Nia Dance is made up of nine different movement arts that originate from <a href="https://ncca.gov.ph/about-ncca-3/subcommissions/subcommission-on-the-arts-sca/dance/philippine-martial-dance/#:~:text=Martial%20dances%20pertain%20to%20war,Cordillera%20Region%20of%20Northern%20Luzon." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dance, martial</a> and <a href="https://www.aayuclinics.com/blog/alternative-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">healing techniques</a>. Adapting both their physical and verbal teachings, Nia Dance incorporates this with <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/consumer-health/in-depth/mindfulness-exercises/art-20046356" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mindfulness practices</a> to help provide positive energy and mindset, and feelings of productivity.</p>

<p></p>

<p>The technique of Nia Dance is set up into <a href="https://www.niaaustralia.com.au/what-to-wear-to-a-class/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">7 different cycles</a>, each one stimulating your mind differently. The cycles help you focus on goals and intentions, become in-tune with your body, energise your being and recentre and harmonise with your soul.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="618" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-23-at-10.29.05-PM-1024x618.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3668" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-23-at-10.29.05-PM-1024x618.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-23-at-10.29.05-PM-980x592.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screen-Shot-2021-11-23-at-10.29.05-PM-480x290.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

When you think of maintaining a <a href="https://www.happyhealthyhadlee.com/happy-healthy-habits" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">healthy and happy lifestyle</a>, you may first think of your physical health and eating habits. However, taking care of your mental and cognitive health is just as important, if not more. Today&#8217;s blog post will be discussing a healthy brain exercise online that will leave you feeling <a href="https://info.totalwellnesshealth.com/blog/refresh-your-mental-health" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mental refreshed and cognitively boosted</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="593" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.14-PM-1024x593.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3239" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.14-PM-1024x593.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.14-PM-980x567.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.14-PM-480x278.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nia Dance Strengthening Your Brain and Cognitive Function</strong></h2>

<p><a href="https://nianow.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nia Dance</a> is unlike any other <a href="https://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/brain-exercises" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mentally stimulating exercise</a> you would have participated in or heard of before. It is a <a href="https://www.apu.edu/arts/angeles-worship-initiative/posts/27481/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holistic movement art</a> that is uniquely composed of 9 different techniques that stem from the martial, healing and dance arts. Some of these techniques that inspire the 52 movements of Nia Dance includes <a href="https://isadoraduncan.org/foundation/isadora-duncan/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Duncan dance</a>, <a href="https://www.wellingtonjazzclub.org.nz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jazz</a>, the <a href="https://alexandertechnique.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Alexander Technique</a>, <a href="https://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/a35766457/tai-chi-vs-yoga/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Yoga, and Ta-Chi</a>.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Each one of these techniques that makes up Nia Dance has interwoven its own unique movements and teachings into the Nia Technique to maximise the level of attention to <a href="https://www.nia.nih.gov/health/cognitive-health-and-older-adults" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stimulating and improving mental health and cognitive function</a>. The technique of Nia Dance was also carefully designed following the complex makeup of the human body, including cognitive, neural, nerve, and organ functions. In turn, this significantly optimises the positive impact Nia Dance has on your mental health and brain function.</p>

<p></p>

<p>As mentioned before, Nia Dance is made up of a total of 52 movements. Each movement benefits you in a particular way, and you can take different movements and create a routine that provides a particular group of benefits or focus on different areas, such as organ function or circulation. The Sun Levitation is a routine of set movements within Nia Dance that <a href="https://www.authenticityassociates.com/neural-plasticity-4-steps-to-change-your-brain/#:~:text=Neural%20pathways%20are%20strengthened%20into,solutions%20to%20fulfill%20your%20goals." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">strengthens the neurological pathways</a> within your brain. Boosting the power of these pathways improves the function of your brain and cognition overall, creating a healthier and happy brain.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Many commonly reported mental benefits that are a result of Nia Dance includes improved coordination, heightened balance, higher levels of cognitive function, reduced mental anxiety and stress, the release of endorphins (feel-good chemicals), and better concentration and focus.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="605" src="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.27-PM-1024x605.png" alt="" class="wp-image-3240" srcset="http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.27-PM-1024x605.png 1024w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.27-PM-980x579.png 980w, http://dancenz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-25-at-10.32.27-PM-480x284.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Improve The Health and Function of Your Cognition at Dance NZ</strong></h2>

<p>All of <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/online-joyous-dance-hamilton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dance NZ&#8217;s</a> classes are available online as a live stream on <a href="https://zoom.us/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Zoom</a>. If you haven&#8217;t already, installing Zoom and using it to access your class is really simple. Online classes are just as effective as in-person classes and provide the same brain and mental health benefits.</p>

<p></p>

<p>There are also <a href="http://dancenz.co.nz/buy-a-replay/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">24-hour replays of various classes available for purchase</a>, which may be explored and purchased here. Replays are available for 24 hours and may be seen as many times as you want during that time frame. This frees you from feeling obligated to attend a set class time and have a time that suits you to focus on your mind.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Dance NZ offers a wide choice of lessons that are specifically tailored to meet the demands and abilities of each individual. All classes, although different, still target your brain and neurological pathways to help boost mental clarity and health. Classic Nia is suitable for everyone and comes highly recommended whether you&#8217;re a seasoned dancer or fitness enthusiast. </p>

<p></p>

<p>Gentle Nia is ideal for beginners, but it also works for people who aren&#8217;t in that group. Nia Dance Move to Heal is a soft-movement-focused class for those healing from injuries or illnesses and can be great for mental healing too.
